Healing is in the journey

I like to think of healing as a journey - one on a windy road with detours, construction, and even a nice scenic route. It is definitely not a straight path. There can be twists and turns - sometimes cruising along or other times feeling like we are stuck in traffic having no movement at all. The most important thing to remember on this journey is that things will change - it’s the one thing that we can rely on in life - change. You won’t be stuck in traffic forever there will be movement. You may feel lost, not sure which turn to take but you will grow from each road you take. The journey is yours and you have the power to decide what path to take.

Healing can be painful and joyful - it can be all of these things at once. Once we are able to let go of the idea that the solution is only in the destination there is space to just experience the present moment. The present moment, the journey itself is where healing lives. Bringing our awareness to the present moment without judgment. Practice taking a non-judgemental stance observing and describing your present moment. If you being to notice thoughts from the future or the past, acknowledge that you are experiencing these thoughts and bring your attention back to your present moment awareness - your journey.

As you begin your journey I encourage you to find a provider who sits in the passenger seat and you be the driver. You are your own healer!!! Think to yourself: what does healing mean to me? What does my journey look like? Remind yourself that the healing is already in you - it’s in your journey.
